Dr. Heather Bushnell earned her Master of Physical Therapy, transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Doctor of Education from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) St. Augustine, FL campus.
Dr. Bushnell has more than 10 years of clinical practice in acute care and seven years in a hospital-based education position. Before joining USAHS, she served as the Coordinator of Patient Education in 2010 for Flagler Hospital. She has experience with teaching pre-surgery classes with joint replacement patients and coordinating education for patients with diagnoses of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and kidney disease. She served as the Site Coordinator for Flagler Hospital’s American Heart Association, where she taught Basic Life Support to healthcare providers.
Dr. Bushnell joined USAHS in 2017 as contributing faculty with the DPT program at the St. Augustine, FL campus. She was promoted to core faculty in 2022 and teaches a variety of classes throughout the curriculum, including gross anatomy and patient care management.
Dr. Bushnell has presented on her research interests, which include geriatrics and simulation in physical therapy education.
