Shannon Estes, PT, DPT

Dr. Shannon Estes earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. She completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2015 at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She remained at the institution to finish her neurological physical therapy residency. She is currently enrolled in a Master of Public Health program at Texas Tech University.

During her time in acute care, she developed vestibular skills checkoffs for the therapy team and provided one-on-one mentorship for patients in this setting. While working at a large rehabilitation hospital in Chicago, IL, she obtained a leadership role on an interdisciplinary team responsible for creating therapy roadmaps for clinicians at their international hospital affiliate in the United Arab Emirates, aiming to promote best practices. Before becoming a core faculty member with the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS), she was the therapy lead for the wheelchair and seating team at her previous clinic. She contributed to the growth and maintenance of high-practice standards within the clinic. She has served as a guest lecturer in physical therapy programs in Chicago and Milwaukee, conducted lectures for education courses in Chicagoland and nationwide, and was an contributing faculty member at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences before transitioning to a full-time instructor role in 2023.

Dr. Estes is a board-certified neurologic clinical specialist and a vestibular rehabilitation specialist. Her primary focus areas include individuals with neurological, balance and vestibular disorders in various settings, such as acute care/intensive care unit, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. She has also worked as a therapist specializing in wheelchair skills, as well as wheelchair and seating in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Currently, she continues to practice as a wheelchair and seating therapist in an outpatient setting in Dallas.
