Student Support
Student Accessibility Services
We are committed to a culture of diversity and inclusiveness. Within the Office of Student Welfare and Accessibility, we aim to help our student community develop the skills and knowledge necessary to foster an accessible and inclusive learning environment for all students. Our student support services can help if you need accommodation for your coursework or clinical site because of a disability, religion, pregnancy/postpartum or temporary medical condition.
Student Wellness
Student Wellness supports holistic student wellness by providing direct services to students and hosting wellness events throughout the year. You can request a meeting with Student Wellness staff specific to your wellness needs. Student support services includes referrals to external mental health counseling services, community-based resources, individualized wellness coaching or building a personalized wellness plan to support your academic success.
Counseling Services
USAHS, in partnership with ComPsych, offers free counseling services and online resources whenever and wherever you need them. As a USAHS student, you’ll have 24/7 access to ComPsych Guidance Resources and that extends to members of your household as well. When calling ComPsych’s toll-free number you’ll be connected to a free, confidential and trained master’s-level counselor who can address your immediate concerns and refer you to appropriate in-person or virtual counseling services as needed. Counseling services include student support for anxiety, depression, stress, grief, relationship conflict, substance abuse or other personal issues you may be experiencing.
The ComPsych website includes information on a wide variety of subjects such as wellness, legal, financial and relationship issues. You can access articles, podcasts, videos or slideshows and utilize the “Ask the Expert” function to receive personal responses to your questions.
Student Concerns: Safety and Security
Your safety and security are top priorities at USAHS. Student support services include security officers who are stationed at the reception desk and elsewhere on each campus, especially during the hours when students are present. We have instituted emergency operations and response procedures to allow the campus community to react effectively and efficiently to any emergency, whether situational or weather-related. Your campus response team is prepared and ready to assist during emergencies, coordinating communications, evacuations and campus re-entry procedures.
USAHS takes reports of personal safety, including discrimination or harassment, very seriously. We strongly believe that students and all members of the University should be free from all acts of harassment and discrimination on the basis of gender or sexual orientation, race, color, religion, national origin, age, pregnancy, disability or parental status in the education programs and activities that we operate. The Office of Student Affairs’ staff, including our Title IX Coordinator, stand ready to assist you or any student who believes they have been sexually assaulted, harassed, discriminated against or treated in a manner not in alignment with USAHS Core Values.
