Dr. Catherine Tsang-Wu has practiced as an occupational therapist in California, Kentucky and Texas. With more than 30 years of diversified clinical experience across various settings, including acute care, outpatient, day neuro, home and community, she devoted 16 years to specializing in adult neurological inpatient rehabilitation. She holds a range of specialties, including becoming a Certified Brain Injury Specialist while working with a brain injury day neuro and residential program. Additionally, she has been trained in neuro-developmental treatment and neuro-integrative functional rehabilitation and habilitation approaches. She has also obtained advanced practice in dysphagia from the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
Dr. Tsang-Wu has held various teaching roles throughout her career, including Level I and II fieldwork educator for occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant students, clinical coordinator of education, academic fieldwork coordinator and assistant professor. She is also the education chair for the Trinity North District of the Texas Occupational Therapy Association.
Dr. Tsang-Wu’s clinical and research interests include neurological rehabilitation for upper extremities, functional cognition and interoceptive awareness in adults. Her latest research project, “Exploring Interoceptive Awareness with Adults: Occupational Therapy Practitioner Knowledge, Practice Patterns and Perceptions,” was published in the Occupational Therapy Journal of Research.
She joined the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2024 and was promoted to her current position in January 2025.
