Dr. Lynn Kilburg joined the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in December 2024 as the associate dean of occupational therapy.
Dr. Lynn Kilburg joined the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in December 2024 as the associate dean of occupational therapy. As a licensed occupational therapist, Dr. Kilburg brings an extensive background in occupational therapy, having served in various academic and leadership roles within the field. Her expertise encompasses educational leadership, curriculum development and clinical practice, while her research interests span diverse areas, including occupational participation influenced by the environment, environment modification across the lifespan, assessing health services needs, developing and evaluating outcomes, and innovating curriculum development and assessment strategies.
Dr. Kilburg has held multiple leadership roles in higher education, including dean and associate dean of the College of Health and Human Services in Long Beach, CA, and as a director and professor in the occupational therapy department at St. Ambrose University in Iowa. In these roles, she has led the development of innovative curriculum strategies, spearheaded accreditation processes and expanded program offerings.
Her administrative experience spans academic and clinical program management for occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology. She specializes in developing innovative curricula, expanding program offerings and fostering collaborative team building to enhance educational and clinical outcomes.
Her clinical experience includes working with individuals injured on the job, older adults in long-term care and children receiving early intervention services in private practice and medical settings.
Dr. Kilburg currently serves the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) as a program reviewer and is the chair of the ACOTE Council. She is also an active American Occupational Therapy Association member and a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission.
She holds a Doctor of Health Science from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Business Administration and undergraduate degrees in occupational therapy and psychology from St. Ambrose University.
