THURSDAY 9/5/2019 – 12:00 pm EDT
St. Augustine Campus
The St. Augustine facilities will reopen for normal operations on Friday, September 6th.
New Student Orientation has been rescheduled to Sunday afternoon, September 8th with student check-in starting at 1:30 pm to complete logistics requirements and the program will begin promptly at 2:00 pm.
The start of classes for the fall term continues as scheduled on Monday, September 9th.
Miami Campus
The Miami facilities have reopened and resumed normal operations.
New Student Orientation is scheduled as originally planned for Friday, September 6th. Students will check in at 9:00 am to complete logistics requirements and the program will begin promptly at 9:30 am. Students who cannot participate on Friday will be notified of an alternative orientation to be held during the first week of classes.
The start of classes for the fall term continues as scheduled on Monday, September 9th.

St. Augustine Campus
Mandatory evacuations remain in place for St. Augustine. For evacuation procedures, routes and a list of shelters visit https://www.sjcemergencymanagement.com/evacinfo.html.
The St. Augustine facilities will reopen as soon as feasible following the storm and when evacuation orders are lifted.
- Faculty should plan to attend the Faculty Retreat remotely on Thursday if you are able. A recording of the sessions will be made available for those who do not have power or internet access.
- The New Student Orientation originally scheduled for Friday, September 6th, has been rescheduled for Sunday afternoon, September 8th, contingent upon conditions following the storm. We will continue to provide updates on the status of orientation. Though the facilities are closed, University operations continue.
- The start of classes for the fall term continues as scheduled on Monday, September 9th.

Mandatory evacuations remain in place for St. Augustine. For evacuation procedures, routes and a list of shelters visit https://www.sjcemergencymanagement.com/evacinfo.html.
The St. Augustine facilities will reopen as soon as feasible following the storm and when evacuation orders are lifted.
- We are exploring alternatives to remote attendance of the Faculty Retreat scheduled for Thursday, September 5th including video recorded content for access at a later time.
- The New Student Orientation originally scheduled for Friday, September 6th, has been rescheduled for Sunday afternoon, September 8th, contingent upon conditions following the storm. We will continue to provide updates on the status of orientation. Though the facilities are closed, University operations continue.
- The start of classes for the fall term continues as scheduled on Monday, September 9th.
Miami Campus
The Miami facilities will reopen on Wednesday, September 4th. Since we are in a precarious time with term start, we would like to emphasize that although the facilities are closed, operations continue remotely.
- The Faculty Retreat is still scheduled to be held on Thursday, September 5th.
- We are evaluating incoming students’ ability to attend the New Student Orientation slated for Friday, September 6th.
- The start of classes for the fall term continues as scheduled on Monday, September 9th.

St. Augustine Campus
Mandatory evacuations for St. Augustine went into effect this morning. We encourage all employees and students to adhere to official instructions for evacuation or seek shelter in one of the predetermined safe places in St. Augustine. For evacuation procedures, routes and a list of shelters visit https://www.sjcemergencymanagement.com/evacinfo.html.
The St. Augustine facilities will reopen as soon as feasible following the storm and evacuation orders are lifted. We are exploring alternatives for the Faculty Retreat scheduled for Thursday, September 5th for St. Augustine-based faculty as well as New Student Orientation scheduled for Friday, September 6th for St. Augustine campus students. We will communicate those plans as soon as they are confirmed. These plans will not impact the schedules on all other USAHS campuses.
Though the facilities are closed, University operations continue, specifically those associated with term start preparations.
Miami Campus
The Miami facilities will reopen on Wednesday, September 4th. Since we are in a precarious time with term start, we would like to emphasize that although the facilities are closed, remote work should continue as weather permits.
The Faculty Retreat is still scheduled to be held on Thursday, September 5th. We are evaluating possible alternatives for the New Student Orientation slated for Friday, September 6th. The start of classes for the fall term will continue as scheduled on Monday, September 9th.

At this time there is no additional update for the Miami campus, where facilities remain closed until Wednesday. Update #5 below applies to the St. Augustine campus only.
St. John’s County officials have ordered a mandatory evacuation in St. Augustine due to the risk from Hurricane Dorian. The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences’ campus is located within the evacuation area, which begins Monday, September 2 at 8:00AM. We encourage all employees and students to adhere to official instructions for evacuation or seek shelter in one of the predetermined safe places in St. Augustine. Employees: Please keep your supervisor informed about your evacuation plans and location. In addition, within 24 hours of the storm’s passing, please contact the USAHS Emergency Response Team (ERT) to let us know how you are doing. Email us at [email protected] or call or text the USAHS hotline at 833-266-4357. Include your your name, contact number, and a brief status update. Please save this number so that it is easily accessible once the storm passes.

The forecast for the path and impact of Hurricane Dorian continues to be very unpredictable. As such, our Emergency Response Team is closely monitoring conditions and meeting regularly to discuss plans for any additional changes in facility and activity schedules as the storm progresses.
The safety of our employees and students is our top priority. Both the St. Augustine and Miami campuses will be closed until Wednesday, September 4th, although operations continue remotely as weather permits.

HURRICANE DORIAN UPDATE #1

The University continues to monitor hurricane Dorian and its potential impact on the Florida campuses in Miami and St. Augustine. The location and intensity is unpredictable at this time. Landfall is expected to occur Monday morning, according to the latest meteorological reports, with wind gusts forecasted to begin Saturday evening.
As of today, all campus operations continue as regularly scheduled. USAHS will continue to update students, faculty and staff on a regular basis via University email, text and the University website (www.usa.edu). We encourage you to monitor USAHS Facebook and Twitter as well.
