Dr. Chad Schmeeckle is a clinician, mentor, educator and researcher specializing in post-operative rehabilitation for athletes of all ages and skill levels. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. With more than five years of clinical experience, he has worked extensively with high school to Olympic-level athletes in outpatient sports rehabilitation settings, including the University of Kentucky Sports Rehabilitation and Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation at The STAR in Frisco, TX.

Dr. Schmeeckle’s involvement with sports medicine includes contributions to the sports medicine team at the 2021 U.S. Championships for Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics. He remains engaged in volunteer services for various Olympic events. His teaching background includes roles such as director of clinical education for a Physical Therapy Assistant program, credentialed clinical instructor and sports residency mentor for the University of Kentucky and Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation.

He earned his board certification as a sports physical therapist from the University of Kentucky Sports Rehabilitation and became board-certified in sports by the American Physical Therapy Association in 2018. Additionally, he holds certifications in dry needling and blood flow restriction. He has devised return-to-sport protocols for the lower and upper extremities.

Dr. Schmeeckle is currently preparing to earn a Doctor of Education with an emphasis on educational leadership beginning in spring 2024. His teaching and research pursuits encompass sports rehabilitation, anterior cruciate ligament return-to-sport testing, orthopedic manual therapy, movement science, clinical reasoning skills, physical/mental health in first responders, physical therapy/physical therapy assistant intraprofessional collaboration and leadership attributes in education.

In July 2023, Dr. Schmeeckle joined the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences as full-time core faculty within the musculoskeletal curriculum in the DPT program on the Dallas, TX campus.
