Dr. Petersen is an Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy program on the San Marcos, CA campus. He brings more than 12 years of experience working in both clinical practice and in various academic roles. His clinical background has focused on working with children in clinics and schools. He has also worked with adult populations in hospitals and rehabilitation.
Dr. Petersen received his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and both his Master of Arts and post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California. He is completing his PhD in Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, where his dissertation focus is transitioning to adulthood for individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and autism.
