Student Success Advising
During the admissions process, you were introduced to your Student Success Advisor, who will support you throughout your time at the University. Your advisor is someone you can reach out to for help with many things, including:
Individualized Support
Your Student Success Advisor is your first point of contact when you need help navigating your path toward resources and support. If you don’t know how to do something or where to go for assistance, your advisor can answer your questions and point you in the right direction.
Success Strategies
Ask your Advisor for their best study strategies, time and stress management techniques, and organizational tips. They are eager to support you!
Student Outreach
Your advisor cares about how you’re doing, so expect to hear from them from time to time as they check up on you with suggestions and advice.
Administrative Assistance
Be sure to tap into your advisor’s experience with the various administrative processes (e.g. forms, policies and procedures) you’ll encounter during your time here. They can help you better understand policies and procedures outlined in the Catalog/Handbook.
Tutoring
If you get behind in a class or you just need a little help understanding something, you’ll find several ways to receive tutoring to get caught up and continue making progress.
Group peer tutoring
Sessions are typically devoted to a specific subject and led by a peer tutor recommended by your faculty. You can use these tutoring sessions for support in preparing for class, assignments and labs, or develop your own study groups and peer connections to discuss or practice any topics specific to your needs.
One-on-one tutoring
You can have your individual needs and faculty feedback addressed with one-on-one tutoring. This is ideal if you’ve utilized peer group tutoring and still feel you need some extra assistance.
Weekly office hours with faculty
Our faculty/instructors are content experts who are truly dedicated to your success, and they want to hear from you whether you’re struggling or you need clarification or guidance on a class or a topic of concern. In addition to regular office hours, faculty are also available by appointment and can meet with you virtually.
Skills for Success
This series of interactive presentations was developed to provide information and practical solutions for overcoming obstacles you might encounter. It includes information and resources on the topics of what it takes to succeed as a graduate student, time management and organization, reading and note taking, study and test-taking skills, self-reflection, wellness and more.
Active learning resources
A variety of additional resources designed to help you retain and apply the material you learn in your coursework is available to you, including course-based review materials specific to anatomy and other topics.
